A subsidiary of Toyota Motor Company plans to set up a parts factory in Laos, a media report said on Tuesday.
Toyota Boshoku Corporation president Shuhei Toyoda announced the decision after visiting the Savan-Seno industrial park zone in the southeastern province of Savannakhet, the Vientiane Times reported.
Savannakhet is connected to Thailand's north-eastern province of Mukdahan by a bridge over the Mekong River. It is linked to central Vietnam by road.
Thailand is the main automotive manufacturing hub in South-East Asia with output expected to exceed two million vehicles this year.
